REFLECTIVE
PRACTICE ON COOKING
Description:
I
developed the habit of cooking by myself when I got admitted into the
University. I see to myself that I am matured and I can do things for myself
even without advice. From the experience I learned when I was young; I would
always be in the kitchen helping out my parents to accomplish tasks. With that
awesome experience, I went further to learn to cook many other dishes, and have
become a very good cook, even if I say so myself.
Feelings:
Cooking
is something that I really enjoy but my cooking skills used to be atrocious; a
moment of silence for all of the burnt food and melted containers. In the run
up to the event, I felt quite nervous as I had not cooked for so many people
before and was not confident I could produce elaborate meals like some of my
friends.
Evaluation:
The
experience of completing the tasks was good and I completed all of them. It’s
necessary to try something we should just start and let the journey teach us. The
first task was the hardest because I needed to seek help from my roommates and
one of them agreed to help out in no time. I remembered the steps that one of
my roommates told me and acted on it.
Analysis:
On
reflection, I realized that I should have checked cooking times and used a
timer to help me plan better. I also realized I do not have the temperament
while cooking all was rushing in order to get it done. The result was not
something out of the blue. But it started me off on a journey to cook books and
recipes which ended up in me.
Conclusion:
Cooking
is my favorite activity because it is a way for me to reduce stress and I can
be artistic about it and it never gets repetitive. Cooking and eating always
help me to reduce stress, when every time I got all upset or stressed up I can
just cook something I want and eat it.
Action
Plan: I have notice that eating healthy really does make
one feel good. I have to get all the ingredients and utensils ready. I also
seek advice from someone who is more used to doing this than me. This will help
me feel better organized and confident in the run up to the event.
