There are few studies on the subject of small scale farm credit and how their socio-economic characteristics influence their decision about whether or not to take credit. The development of the sector is not feasible if an avenue of credit facilities is not provided. Therefore, this research work is directed at providing insight into this less studied dimension in agriculture by eliciting and analyzing small scale farmers’ socio-economic factors that affect their decision about credit facilities, and also to evaluate the nature, structure and pattern of credit facilities to small scale farmers in Nigeria.

DETERMINANTS OF ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTIONS AMONG FRESH GRADUATES IN NIGERIA

This research project material is available: DETERMINANTS OF ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTIONS AMONG FRESH GRADUATES IN NIGERIA .

Several challenges were encountered in this study which are considered as limitations. Firstly, this research study is entirely based on self-reported measures. A social desirability bias may appear in our study because subjects sometimes respond to surveys in a manner that make themselves meet society’s desires. An anonymity guarantee was reassured to the respondents. Some evidence shows that a self-report of dishonest behaviour can be quite accurate and the bias should have no impact on the testing of the model (Beck and Ajzen, 1991; Becker et al., 2006). Second, the dependent variable used in this study is the intention to engage in entrepreneurial behaviour rather than the actual behaviour itself. Even though many researchers have indicated that behavioural intention is an adequate proxy of actual behaviour (Allen, Fuller and luckett, 1998), the self-report method is still subjective to the bias of CMV.

EFFECT OF TAX PAYMENT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SMES: THE CASE OF SELECTED SMES IN KANO, NIGERIA

This research project material is available: EFFECT OF TAX PAYMENT ON THE PERFORMANCE OF SMES: THE CASE OF SELECTED SMES IN KANO, NIGERIA.

Taxation policy towards SMEs is an important factor that needs to be considered because SMEs are a crucial sector of the economy, despite being owned by individuals and are smaller in size than larger firms. In addition, they improve the standard of living of a majority of the population. Therefore, revenue authorities have to take all of the above features into account when establishing the components of taxation policy that are associated with SMEs. Despite the vibrancy of SMEs, they have a major negative characteristic: they often have an extremely short life span. Some of the factors that bring about shutting down of SMEs sooner than expected after their inception are tax related, including multiple taxation and enormous tax burdens. The perception of SMEs by policy makers often fails to acknowledge their significance as a mechanism of economic growth and development. Regarding SMEs as insignificant enterprises that have no impact on the economy is an oversight that can no longer be justified. This is because SMEs merely require a favorable regulatory environment in which to conduct business, and they will demonstrate their potential for profitability and growth. Thus they need to be granted a measure of flexibility in taxation which will allow them to maximize their potential. The profitability and growth of SME can be assessed through the parameters of sales revenue, asset accumulation, and returns on capital, therefore it is important to find out the effect that taxati

EFFECTS OF MULTIPLE TAXATION ON BUSINESS SURVIVAL IN NIGERIA

This research project material is available: EFFECTS OF MULTIPLE TAXATION ON BUSINESS SURVIVAL IN NIGERIA .

Taxation is one of the major fiscal policies the government of any nation such as Nigeria can use to achieve economic stability and in the financing of capital expenditure. Various taxes are levied upon the income, wealth or gain of an individual, family and business firm by the government for the purpose or benefits of the general public. Tax by a simple definition is a financial charge or other levy imposted upon a tax payer which could be an individual or a legal entity from the point of view of the student researcher by a state such that failure to pay is punishable by law. Thus, taxation cannot be regarded as a voluntary payment or donation but an enforced contribution exacted pursuant to legislative authority. In modern taxation system such as Nigeria, taxes are levied, in money which could be use for myriads of functions or purpose such ay a expenditure on public order, protection of lives and property, economic infrastructure cures such as roads, public works, social engineering and the operation of government itself (Carrol, et al 2000).
